Today, I wanted to share with you my latest Awaken at Work article about Vision and Strategy, Part 1: Making Time to Vision and Strategize. But before we get to that, I want to share a more spiritual perspective on making time to vision as a follow-up from my last email about Feeling Alive In Your Life.

Visioning plays a sacred role in many facets of life. Spiritually, it’s a time when we listen to our deepest wisdom and how the universe wants to collaborate with us, as us. It’s when we give ourselves permission to see and feel what might come next. And this brings up desire.

Desire gets a bad rap in spiritual circles, and for good reason, IF the one with all the desires is the ever-hungry-never-satisfied ego. Ego’s desires rarely create lasting fulfillment; they are the ego’s feeble attempt to heal lack. But there’s an alternative.

Desire without ego is, fundamentally, a call for life. It’s a call to be alive, a call to create and be part of creation. True desire is sacred. It struck me years ago that the same desire a seed has to sprout is the same desire that moves in me to do or create anything. I realized that I needed to show up and listen to that desire.

So, visioning is a time to tune into your true desires, and listen to that call for/of/from Life. If you are craving change, feeling out of alignment, or maybe just feeling you’re not quite living your true potential, then invest in the time to vision.

How to do it? In addition to the suggestions in the Awaken at Work article, you might consider starting your visioning session with meditation, prayer, or some kind of ritual. You might gather with friends and vision together. You may want to spend extended time in nature while you vision. Follow your Wisdom to guide you. You get to be creative and create a visioning session that fits you!

So, then, let’s talk about strategy for a second. Strategy in this context becomes about how you want to or are called to execute or create your vision. It’s the sacred partner to visioning; it helps bring your vision into form.

Strategies can look like a lot of different things. A perfectly valid strategy could be, “Show up every day and ask what wants to be done next and then do that.” Or you might have a series of next steps that you want to do, or people to consult and ask for help. You’ll see in the “Get Curious” section of the article that I’ve offered a few inquiries to get you started.

If your vision is audacious, keep in mind that you don’t have to know how you’re going to execute the whole enchilada. All you have to do is figure out your first next steps. When those are done, you figure out the next first steps, and the next, and so on. All the courageous things we do as humans happen one step at a time, one moment at a time.

I hope this content helps you feel and live an alive, aligned life that is true to your potential! Let me know if this resonates with you and what you discover in your visioning process!
